THE POLY TANTRIC LOVESTYLE by Janet Kira Lessin www.worldpolyamoryassociation@aol.com
Consider a tantric poly (= polyamorous--loving two or more) lifestyle where you share tantra–sacred sex. A polytantric lifestyle. We’ve considered it and we live it. We advocate it as an option for all.

We’ve explored on our own and heard thousands of poly-loving and tantric people. We’ve shared experiences and led scores of alternate relationship and sacred sex conferences and seminars. In our seminars, we’ve used humanistic and transpersonal psychology as well as tantric meditation to explore multi-lover relating to aid our spiritual synergy.

Many couples today explore polyamory and swinging. Ever-increasing droves of people flock to conferences, new clubs, websites, private "lifestyle" and "playcouple" activities all over the world.

Most paired-up people who swing or love in a polyamorous triad or moresome enhance their erotic and romantic connection with each other. Some couples, however, seek the lifestyle for the wrong reason–to fix their dysfunctional relationships. In such couples, rather than improve their sour relating, polyamory or swapping may trigger breakups. But most pairs who sample polyamory or the lifestyle deepen their love and intimacy with each other when they love others.
Genetic tests show most humans’ actual behavior is not sexually exclusive with monogamous mates. Our sexual behavior resembles that of our genetically closest primate, the chimp-like Bonobos. Like Bonobos, we couple with multiple partners, though unlike Bonobos, who openly copulate in front of their sexual partners, humans more often hide their non-monogamous coupling from sight and knowledge of their mates. Such hiding reduces the intimacy of relating between the cheater and his or her mate.
Most humans are actually covertly polysexual (more than one sexual partner), while only some, albeit a swelling number, are overtly polyamorous (one than one love in their life).
Most of us keep loving lovers even after we or they end our sexual connection. I love everyone I’ve ever loved and most people who come to me for therapy continue loving those they've loved in their lives.
Our hearts open and we love those we make love with, especially if we regularly enjoy sex with them. We fall in love with people with whom we share sex. We humans--male or female--develop affection, warmth, desire to enjoy one another time and again when we make love over and over with each other. We naturally bond. We love.
Society’s realizing the falseness of old beliefs, beliefs like the belief that most of us are faithfully monogamous or the belief that you can have sex without becoming fond of your lovers. Instead, as the growing polyamorous and lifestyle couples attest, We all have a huge capacity to love and enjoy sex. Many of us are more than able to love many and have tons of sex at the same time. I learned by making love with others while I’m still in love with my husband that I’m ever more turned-on to lovemaking.
Many people nowadays stop connecting sexually with their spouses. I’m a counselor. At least ten times a week couples complain they don't make love anymore. Why? Do we simply get bored with one another? Are we angry? Resentful? I know from my own past and the experiences of those I counsel, that partners who still live together but don't connect sexually with each other still love each other. They panic when they consider leaving no-sex spouses who used to make love with them, because they still love them. They’re friends, comfortable with one another. They mix finances and perhaps raise children together. They know and love each other’s relatives; they share friends and interests together. They don’t want to lose what they’ve built. They don’t want to sell their homes, divide their holdings. So many reasons to stay together, crazy to part just because they stopped sharing sex with each other or because they love others.
Counseling helps non-sexual couples open to sex with each other again. Tantra can also help rekindle their desire; I highly recommend it. But what really enthuses a couple to juicy sex with each other is swinging or polyamory. Couples return home to each other, turned-on from their erotic encounters with others and screw each other’s brains out for days. When they f*ck like minks, chemicals flow, they feel close and feel again in love with each other.
I used to be on the polyamory-only bandwagon. But after intensely studying the swinger movement for the past nine years, I see they’re onto something. A strange piece of ass, watching your partner with someone else, touching two or three people at the same time, doing more than one at a time, breaking taboos, or stretching beyond your own boundaries turns people on.
Sure, there’s jealousy. That’s also human nature. We can use, then get over jealousy. Hang in there with your jealousy, ride it, experience it, feel it, talk it out and never make yourself or your lovers wrong about their feelings and soon you laugh seek sexual adventures together. Like explorers, or hunters on the prowl, together you’ll discuss who’s attractive, what’s attractive and actually be able to act on attractions if you chose.
I suggest couples trying polyamory or swinging stay together as they explore other loves. That’s what works the best for us. If you’re at all insecure, it can be harder for you to relax when your partner goes offstage with another lover, easier if you all share loving in each others’ view and, even better, co-participate. Couples who watch and share each others’ excitement build ever-more desire for each other.
Swinging may be too far out for some of us. Living together with more than one mate may be just as far out for others. A few couples whom we see regularly is the poly lifestyle that works best for Sash and me. I like getting to know new lovers on a very deep level and can do this living separately. Living with anyone but Sasha is hard for me; I get anxious with too many people around all the time. I’m a private person, need privacy, peace and quiet. So living apart and loving together now and again is fine with me.
Of course there’s a time for many to be monogamous for parts of their lives. I’ve done it and enjoyed it–for awhile. Though some folks are even happily monogamous all their lives, few love and want sex only with one person their entire lives. We may be mono (one), amorous (loving) part our lives. But cultural conditioning makes many of us continue monogamously despite the death of sex in the monogamous relationship and despite the fact that we have non-monogamous fantasies, desires and affairs. I have friends who fear losing face if peers knew they considered multi-lover intimacy.
However, if we humans are truthful, at least to ourselves in our own hearts, we are going to have to admit, one and all, that we have feelings and attractions for many, many people in the course of our lives. And when we get to that point, where we’re real with ourselves, than perhaps we can begin to forgive those who do what we dare not, and quit being so sanctimonious. Instead of shaming our politicians and celebrities, realize human nature. Bill and Hillary Clinton are probably in an open marriage. Bill just got careless. If they could talk truth, we’d progress light years.
Using modern DNA testing, we found 99.9% of all the species are non-monogamous. Our genetic cousins, the Bonobos practice polyamory, swinging and bisexual sex. We’re similar. Hospitals using DNA tests find many a dad on the birth certificate isn't the biological father.
Polyamory’s a high spiritual practice. So’s swinging. One swing club in Northern Washington State has a Goddess Ritual where a woman takes on all comers. She seats herself on a swing chair with an endless supply of condoms and the men line up out the door. Some women have been known take on 40 or 50 men during this ritual. She ends up in an enlightened, altered state of consciousness.
Besides being a high spiritual practice and very sexy, being polyamory and couple playing are fun. Cut lose and play as you might have when you were a kid playing outside on a hot Summer eve. When you’re all careful about STD’s and respectful, honest, courteous, kind, loving and playful with one another, you can make love in a puppy puddle with the same abandon you had when you were little playing football, wrestling or King of the Mountain. Poly’s fun.

Hello all.

My name is Andy, and I joined this tribe a few days ago. I used to be on PMM about three to four years ago and spoke with some great people there, though I haven't been to PMM for quite awhile. A friend and I have been considering rejoining, but our situation is a bit unusual so I thought I'd get some feedback before we jump in.

We're not a "couple" in the sense of being sex partners--We're both heterosexual males--but I don't consider us "just" friends either because our interests/outlook are very similar aside from some differences of emphasis. About three years ago we were in a triad of sorts with a woman. Unfortunately there were some misunderstandings and mistakes all around and things fell apart, but over the past couple of weeks we've been tentatively discussing trying something similar again as we've both learned a lot since then. We both tend to prefer a non-hierarchical arrangement rather than primary/secondary; we wouldn't be either seeking or avoiding sex above all else; we both understand, after our experiences both together and in separate relationships, that lack of communication screws things up royally no matter how many people are involved, so honesty is pretty important to us. Basically, we're seeking someone(s) who share some common interests with us, to communicate and see what happens from there based on what all feel comfortable with rather than a relationship "type." This brings me to my question.

Would it be better for us to join PMM together or separately...or at all? Has anyone else here tried anything similar, either through PMM or otherwise? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.
--Andy

If you haven't been reading Polyamory in the News (http://polyinthemedia.blogspot.com/) in the last three months, here's some of what you missed:

** Today's Washington Post (Feb. 13) has a HUGE feature article on Loving More's Poly Living conference, held in early February. (I was there! Yay!) The article is remarkably perceptive and insightful. This is Big Time Stuff, getting talked about all over. Copy and save this one.

** Is the poly-vs-swinging debate finally settling itself? On both sides of this cultural divide, people seem to be deciding that it's a continuous spectrum on which you can position yourself where you wish. This takes on new relevance as swinging goes through an upsurge of mainstream attention -- which will increase when the primetime CBS-TV drama "Swingtown" debuts.

** For a couple opening up to poly, well-thought-out relationship agreements are a fine idea. But be prepared to outgrow them. In particular, don't get snagged by the Symbol Over Substance Mistake.

** "An Open and Shut Marriage" in the New York Times is a study in how not to try. How many blunders can you count here? Please -- research what other people have learned before setting out to reinvent this often difficult wheel. In the last 25 years the poly community has accumulated, through trial and error, a substantial body of wisdom.

** A chain of New Age magazines decides to spread a bit of this wisdom, in "Love Big."

** "Why is polyamory offensive? ...The most telling reason is that it makes people explore their own relationships and the fears that reside within...."

** A couple in Florida, brimming to share what they've found, announce Poly 101 workshops for the public and get nicely written up in their local paper. Maybe you can too.

** Rachel Kramer Bussell, a leading erotica author, wrestles with the Case for Open Relationships. "Polyamory is not a panacea; if you think you'll cure any and all sexual longings or be free of jealousy simply by taking on new partners, you're probably in for a rude awakening."

** Plus bunches of positive coverage in Spain (with TV-news video), Norway, Germany....

Date: January 17, 2008
Contact: Robyn Trask, Managing Director, Loving More® Non-Profit Organization
Phone: (303) 543-7540
Email: Robyn@lovemore.com
Web Site: lovemore.com

LOVING MORE® non-profit presents Poly Living 2008, bringing together the polyamory community and those who love more.

Loving More®, is excited to bring back Poly Living, February 1-3, 2008, Philadelphia, PA, with an incredible line up of speakers. The weekend conference, the largest of its kind, will feature keynote speaker and Author Dr Deborah Anapol. Deborah has been a leader in polyamory community and information. Her book The New Love Without Limits, is the most widely recognized and best selling book on polyamory around. The conference will also feature Dr Ken Haslam, major supporter of the Kinsey Institute, Robyn Trask, Loving More’s managing director, Polyamory and sex activist Anita Wagner and many others. They will cover a wide range of topics designed to improve relationships and sexual understanding. Poly Living features a balance of fun, education and personal growth workshops and entertainment. Saturday night will feature a viewing of Dr Mim Chapman V/P Dialogues, a fun and educational program on sexuality and sexual issues for both sexes.

"We are so honored to have Dr Anapol speaking this year for us. She was one of the founders of Loving More and has great insights on not only Poly Relationships but on relationships of all kinds," said Managing Director Robyn Trask. "This conference is designed to give people opportunities to learn about choices in intimate personal relationships as well as supporting those who choose to love outside the confines of monogamy all in an environment that is safe. We offer people a place to learn and grow in their own unique polyamorous relationships as well as the skills to help all their relationships work.”

”More and more people are looking to find other forms of relating with romantic partners as traditional marriage and relationships fall apart for many modern couples” explains Loving More’s Managing Director Robyn Trask. “What we offer is an opportunity to learn to love a new way with commitments, loving intimacy and real communication. With 50% of first marriages ending in divorce and 80% of second marriages following suit it is not surprising people are opening up themselves for something new and possibly more realistic.” This believes Robyn is in part responsible for the surge in interest in polyamory both from the media as well as public interest.
Each issue includes polyamory resource listings, book and video reviews, a calendar of events, and advice column
Loving More® Retreats — We have been facilitating polyamorous conferences and retreats since 1986 and are the longest running polyamorous conferences in the world providing educational workshops.
Loving More® Website— We are an online resource for polyamory with information, chat rooms, forums, articles and an online bookstore. We will be adding more in the near future including poly personals, poly friendly professionals, and even online poly education.

In 2006 Loving More began the process of becoming a non-profit corporation and 501c(3). The decision was made in order to better serve both the Polyamory community as well as people who wish to explore an alternative to monogamy in an honest and open way. It is Loving More’s hope to educate people about choice in relationships beyond compulsory monogamy. 2007 marks a shift for Loving More toward educating the media and the public about polyamory through conferences, seminars and retreats as well as maintaining a contact list of polyamorous people willing to speak to the media about polyamory, open relationships and honest non-monogamy.
Hello Lovers!

Just back in NYC from so much traveling for work that I forgot that I never really left for good. And I just moved apts and changed jobs so maybe that's where the disorientation comes from to. I'm not new to poly, just the concept that there is a much broader community out there than I ever imagined! ANyway, I'm excited to meet folks I have more in common with that poly, etc. I've had some strange and unhappy experiences trying to do that through a Yahoo group's mixers that was all about creepy guys whose wives would try to "bring me to them" like I was a meal--it was unconfortable for me but it certainly not there fault that I found myself in the wrong places. But I've been reading here and I feel like I'm in a right place. You all seem a lot more in tune with my aura. If there are any casual poly mixers out there, I love to know!
I have been largely silent about Poly Big Fun 2008 for a long time. This is because things are still quiet, but we are advancing in preparing for the event. But today I have a few announcements.

First, and most importantly, this message is being posted only to poly-austin@yahoogroups.com and to polybigfun@polybigfun.org. Generally, announcements and discussions go only to polybigfun@polybigfun.org. If you wish to subscribe to that list, please send a message to:

polybigfun-subscribe@polybigfun.org

If that fails, email me and I will set you up.

For those of you who are new to the community, Poly Big Fun is a yearly retreat that we have at Bastrop State Park. More details are available at www.polybigfun.org/ .

For 2008, the event will be held at the same location as always, from Thursday April 10th through Sunday April 13th. Registration for the event, as always, will begin at the beginning of January. There will be some changes this year, most notably in how you will select cabin spaces and how you will sign up for work shifts, but the event will be largely as you have come to expect.

I will be begging for discussion leads as soon as registration goes online.

Otherwise, more news come January 1st!
BIO:
I've been in an open relationship with my now husband for 8 years. I've been out of the poly "loop" for a while and I'm ready to jump back in now that I feel more settled here in Colorado.

I'm never good at writing these, but then, who really is? I have a wide variety of interests, I'm out going, like being social with smaller groups, and like being active.

I'm not into playing head games, nor do I have the time to beat around the bush. I'm a straight forward, tell it like it is girl. Life is short, and I intend to live it to the fullest that I can. LOOKING FOR:
An outgoing male. He can be single, married, or with other relationships.

I'm looking for someone that is at least 5'11" as that's my height. Body size doesn't matter. I work out each day, but it's not a requirement of those I seek to spend my time with by any means.

I want someone that's not afraid to stay in some night and find things to go do other nights. Someone that is honest and open. Isn't afraid to hear exactly what I think, or get the straight forward answers that I would provide. I'm an open book, just gotta ask the questions to get the answer.

That's about all the requirements I have, other than the right chemistry be there for friends or more.

POLYAMORY & AHIMSA: Talk with Lovers' Lovers by Sasha Lessin, Ph.D.

Do you always, before you connect with someone with whom you're attracted, talk with that person's lovers?

I attended the Network for a New Culture's two week August community meeting in the mountains of Oregon and found myself in the middle of an earnest debate that, bottom line, concerned alternate ways of connecting with new lovers.

Model 1: RESPECT EXISTING RELATIONSHIPS BEFORE YOU CONNECT

On one side of the debate, my wife Janet and I advocate complete
candor with the significant others of our would-be-lovers–before we
connect sexually with these prospects. Before we even tell anyone
either of us is attracted to someone, Janet and I speak privately
about whether to communicate our attraction to the objects of desire
one or both of us has. If both Janet and I agree to go ahead, we ask
the person(s) if they're interested in getting to know and perhaps
become friends and then lovers with us.

If our prospective lovers say, "Yes, let's explore going deeper with
each other," we ask to speak with each of their significant others
before we and the prospectives engage sexually. If, when we
communicate with our prospective lovers' lovers, these significant
others say. Okay," we proceed to get to know each other with the
intention of assessing whether to become more intimate.

If the significant others of our prospective lovers say, "Wait till
we too get to know you and Janet," we honor this. If they
say, "Wonderful, we fully support you connecting." we proceed to
develop the friendship that can lead to poly loving.

If, however, the significant others of our prospective lovers
indicate that it would create distress for them which they wish to
avoid, we keep our relating to the would-be-prospectives on the level
of friendship and share no sexuality. We choose to create no pain
for others; it hurts us to distress others, so we refrain from sex
with their lovers.

Model 2: FOLLOW YOUR BLISS SPONTANEOUSLY & LIVE WITH CONSEQUENCES

On the other hand in the debate we had at the conference, some polys
took the position that each person was autonomous and needn't consult
anyone–wife, lover or otherwise, nor need their perspectives consult
anyone before engaging in sex. If their prospective lovers' lovers
get uptight over it, too bad, that's life and maybe pain's what the
prospective's lovers need to grow–if they even have a candor
commitment. This sounds a bit like polyfuckery rather than ethical
polyamory the way Janet and I practice it.

We advocate ahimsa–harmlessness–candor, transparency. We believe in
truth, disclosure and kindness.

How do you practice poly? How do you manage communication with the
significant others of your prospective others? On this site and at
the World Polyamory Harbin Hot Springs (CA) Conference Oct 5-7, we
continue this debate in our panel discussion, How We Do Poly. Let us
know your perspective.

The aim of my study is to explore how individuals in queer polyamorous triads discuss love in their relationships. I am in search of individuals in queer, long-term (one year or longer), polyamorous triads to interview. Individuals must identify themselves and their relationships as queer, and the triads must be three people who are all sexually and romantically involved with one another.

Message: ----

Loving More® is currently talking with Pilgrim Films about a polyamory reality show. Personally, I am not fond of reality shows but they are big right now and, like it or not, there will be reality shows on the subject. As a community we have the ability to influence how we are represented. By working together we can have an effect. Loving More is currently working with a few people within the poly community willing to do media appearances but we need more diversity.

This show is important. As of now they are looking for people who represent the majority of society; a family, raising kids in suburbia or some type of middle class poly folk. I know that many of us do not exactly fall in this category and some even resent that they are looking for that, but I am asking all of us to look at this as an opportunity to educate people in a real way. Poly people come in all shapes, orientations and classes of weirdness but if we want the public to take this movement seriously and make progress toward changing attitudes, then we need to help the average person open their mind. This is important for all of us who may have jobs, kids, family or other matters that can be affected by our choice of polyamory as a lifestyle. There are many poly people out there living in suburbia raising kids but few who feel safe to be out. Those who are willing to come out and talk to media are often not representative of the community as a whole but one small segment that many people can not relate to.

I get asked many repeating questions by the media that imply certain assumptions. One of the most common is the perception that poly people are long haired, granola eating hippies still living out their experience of the 60’s, or that we are sex addicted deviants. Is this the perception of polyamory you want portrayed? Does it really matter? Only when we show people another version will we change these preconceived ideas.

All of you can help in several ways:

1. By coming to Loving More when you are asked or considering a media appearance.
a. Let us help you by negotiating on your behalf. We are getting good at working with the media so that you are treated well, compensated for your time, and not ambushed. We can help you prepare for interviews or TV appearances.

2. By letting us know that you are willing to speak to the media and what kinds of media you are willing to do.
a. For this we need pictures and bios.

3. Is to let us know when you here of a documentary, talk show, or other media looking for poly people.
a. Chances are we have already heard from and talked to them but let us know anyway so we can help.

We are not here to tell you how you should do an interview or TV appearance but to simply help put your best foot forward. Talk shows, reality TV and similar shows are entertainment media out there to make money. They are not journalists and I feel sometimes it is easy to confuse the two. We also work with the journalistic media but it is a different media and in my experience they have been fair and easy to work with. TV entertainment shows thrive on sensationalism and they have their own agenda. What we want is to take advantage of the opportunity, influence the content, and minimize the exploitation.

We are a diverse community looking to change the possibilities in personal relationships, from our granola eating vegetarians to our sex crazed republicans. Working as a community we can have a real impact. If we are united they will have to at least meet us partway to get people for their needs. Change can happen and my wish is that polyamory becomes just another option in personal loving relationships.

Let us know if you or someone you know would be a good fit for this show and willing to do it. Also, if you are not up for this show but would be interested in something else, then share that with us. Email us with media in the subject line lovingmore@lovemore.com or call 303-543-7540.

Thanks for all your support and help

Lots of stuff has been happening at Polyamory in the News, http://polyinthemedia.blogspot.com/ , in the last two months. If you haven't been checking, here's what you missed:

** “How Prevalent is Polyamory?” We are everywhere. . . or are we? Here's a collection of stats and surveys, and thoughts on what they mean.

** The controversial British poly documentary “I Love You. And You. And You” has been rebroadcast — and at last you can see it on the web.

** “Three on a match can be dangerous” (Chicago Sun-Times). Couples therapist Laura Berman goes on a tear against more-than-twoness, and members of the poly community rally in reply.

** “Unfaithful? No, I just have too much love for one man” (Daily Mail, London). One of Great Britain’s “dreadful rags” is shocked, shocked!

** “Monogamy, Polyamory, and Beyond” (Tikkun magazine). A leading progressive religious/political journal examines the possibilities that compersion — “sympathetic joy” in multipartnering — offers for spiritual advancement (dare we say evolution?).

** “All Mine” (Herald-Sun, Australia). Are polys becoming the media’s go-to experts on understanding jealousy?

** “Make Love; End Monogamy War” (Sydney Morning Herald, Australia). “Monogamy is the capitalism of the social world. It isn’t perfect and it’s mighty expensive, but no one’s actually come up with a viable alternative for the masses.”

** German Green Endorses Poly; Brouhaha Ensues. The “Pippi Longstocking of German politics” raises eyebrows, and wins fans, across Europe.

** “Polyamory” enters the Oxford English Dictionary, finally making it as officially an English word as possible. Jennifer Wesp, co-inventor of the word in the early 1990s, writes in to describe exactly where, when, and how she created it.

** “What is commitment? Polyamorous perspectives on love, sex and relationships” (American Sexuality). Cascade Cook assembles a variety of polys’ takes on what commitment means to them and their partners. A good handout.

** Polyamory cited in The God Delusion. Atheist author Richard Dawkins give us a good mention in his current blockbuster book.

** The Ethical Slut: the movie! Filming begins this summer. A self-declared "Taoist" indie film company says it intends to give it a good, serious treatment.

** Developments at Loving More: The magazine should soon be back on its feet. Meanwhile, Loving More and polyamory become a running plot element on NBC's Monday-night series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”

** Swing/Poly Advocates Arouse Debate in China. And you thought Podunk, USA was messed up. . .

** "Not Too Emo" (The Stranger, Seattle). "There is a key trait in people who do polyamory well, and it's this: They are good at regulating their strong emotions."

Here are the December archives: http://polyinthemedia.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_polyinthemedia_archive.html
Re-Posted with permission by: "Robyn" lovingmore@comcast.net
Tue Dec 26, 2006 7:34 pm (PST)
To the Loving More Community,

I wanted to say hello and happy holidays to the wonderful community
that we all share. The holiday season is always time of joy and
rebirth. We have all felt it at one point in another and we are at
the brink of a fabulous rebirth. Loving More Magazine is now Loving
More Non-Profit organization. It has been an evolving entity that we
have been a witness of for some time now. With that said we are in
the middle of such a grand evolutionary phase. Yes all changes can
be a little hairy but we are so excited of what is to come. I don't
want to give away too much of what is to come but I can honestly say
that you will really enjoy what we have up our sleeves.

These changes do come with some challenges and although they aren't
permanent, they are a bit inconvenient. In the midst of our updates
to our organization our website is going through some challenges.
The website has been bouncing a bit during our changes and
unfortunately the X-cart shopping cart is currently experiencing
intermittent difficulties. I know this comes at an inconvenient time
and I would like for you to please email us with your orders if you
have challenges and w can get them processed (send orders for now to
lovingmore@comcast. net). With our surprise that we are working on,
this will be but a simple ripple in a wave of evolution.

Now we can't give away what we are up to, but if you want to
volunteer to help out the organization, you may get a taste of what's
to come. Shh you won't be able to tell, but you can share our grins
when people ask us what we have up our sleeve.

And now for the details of our current promotion we have going on for
members of our lovely community:

Due to website and weather challenges the Colorado Conference
Deadline has been extended to December 31, 2006 to avoid late
registration fees. The current registration price for the conference
only is $85 for members and $95 for non-members, for the social and
conference the price is $100 for members and $115 for non-members.

The West Conference June 21- 24, 2007, Early Registration Deadline is
January 1, 2007. Early Registration (1/1/07) $385/member, $420/non-
member, the price goes up $40pp. Keep in mind the price includes
four days and three nights accommodations, all meals, workshops and
playshops as well as the use of Brooktrails Lodge facilities and lots
of wonderful poly fun, information and the chance to make new
friends.

If the online system at lovemore.com is not working or giving you
server errors please email me at lovingmore@comcast. net. We can
invoice you via Paypal for credit card and online payments or we can
send you a registration form and you can send a check to Loving More,
PO Box 4358, Boulder, CO 80306. Feel free to call 303-543-7540 with
questions about either Conference. I am on vacation and Loving More
offices are closed through the 31st. I will be checking messages
and handling Conference registrations during this time. All other
correspondence, orders and calls will be returned after the 2nd when
the office re-opens.

Warmest Wishes and Happy New Year to all.
Folks,

As some of you may know, George Marvil, the founder of the Poly Living conference in Philadelphia and various pagan get-togethers, died of cancer recently after being ill for more than a year. His wife Cat intends to carry on Poly Living as his memorial, but she is asking all who are considering going to please register by December 31st at the very latest, which is the hotel's deposit deadline. They need 100 registrants by then.

The cost is very reasonable ($155 per person after discount; enter "bsmg" in the discount code box). The hotel in downtown Philly is very nice, and the rooms are reasonable ($109 per night for the two nights; up to 4 people allowed in a room to split the cost).

For more info and to register:
http://polyliving.com/

I went last February and had a wonderful time! I'm going again this year. If you want to know more of what it's like, I wrote up a report on my experiences:

If you’re part of a couple that’s looking for, but haven’t found the poly lovers you want, don’t despair. Instead, in the couple of which you’re now part, love each other more. Appreciate what you’ve got, don’t suffer for what you’ve not.

Apply non-attachment to polyamory. Celebrate you couple-relationship and you cease suffering about polyamory. Enjoy the present with your mate. If you and your primary don’t attract other lovers, you’re okay with each other and you don’t suffer. If other lovers do come to you–and they will–celebrate that too. Fully celebrate the relationship you have and new poly possibles present themselves plentifully. When Janet and I relate joyously to each other, new lovers appear. Message’s clear. Love your life as it now is and it gets better.

Here’s the All-Chakra Tantra approach to enjoying your present pairing to the max and thereby promoting your poly possibilities.

Chakra 1, Encourage each other’s Inner Children to play and expose vulnerability

Chakra 2: Enjoy mutual sensuality

Chakra 3, Empower each other claim what’s rightfully yours

Chakra 4: give and get romantic love

Chakra 5: Communicate compassionately and authentically

Chakra 6: Share thoughts, intuitions, visions

Chakra 7: Experience your oneness with each other and the Universe

My bet is the more you love each other at all levels, the more love you’ll attract from others.

Lots of good stuff has been happening at Polyamory in the News, polyinthemedia.blogspot.com/ , in the last two months. If you haven't been checking, here's what you missed:

** Robyn Trask, editor/director of Loving More, chats up a storm on the Steve Douglas Show. Plus, some comments on female poly leadership.

** "Husbands And Wife," on CBS4-TV, Miami. A local TV news show does a dippy and breathless (but positive) report on the poly trend. Watch the video.

** "Revelations of love triangle involving murder victim," Daily Mail, London (among others). A couple in conservative Scotland comes out as poly following the tragic murder of their third by a handyman. The gossip of Great Britain. Despite all, they explain polyamory well.

** Poly 101 radio interview, in which Nobody's Angel makes her first media appearance.

** "The Confession," National Review Online. Stanley Kurtz, bigtime anti-gay-marriage writer, publishes new proof that gays and their allies plan to use polyamory to abolish marriage for everyone and destroy civilization. With interesting rebuttals.

** "Monogamy Getting a Tad Monotonous," The Sunday Independent. The largest newspaper in formerly conservative Ireland runs a long article musing on the shortcomings of monogamy -- and reporting on polyamory as a positive alternative.

** "Lust Life: Polyamory," New York Press. "The first time I heard the term polyamorous, I was on a date with a guy who was simultaneously on a date with another woman.... That was two years ago...."

** "Women In Love," documentary by Karen Everett, just out on DVD. "Sipping tea in a Santiago cafe and trying to swallow how ridiculously happy I felt, I decide I wanted to make a documentary about love." And about complicated poly life.

** New Scientist author interview. Annalee Newitz's article ( polyinthemedia.blogspot.com/2006....html ) in a major science magazine last July was a milestone. Listen to the podcast of the author discussing it.

** "Things Polyamorous People Should Know," The Stranger (Seattle). Kink columnist Mistress Matisse serves some stiff doses of wisdom.

** Polyamory on the Tyra Banks TV show. Some excellent people from our community dared to put themselves on the line on daytime TV -- with unexpected success.

** Polly & Marie: a TV sitcom about polyamory is in the works! Watch the trailer, and send your comments to the show's creator, Reid Mihalko. Now if someone can just get a network to bite....

** Poly comic strips: Strange Den, Spice, Queen of Wands, Blue Crash Kit....

** "Designing for the future as it is now," Excalibur (York University, Toronto). A production of Noel Coward's classic 1932 play Design for Living, about what would now be called a triad, is reviewed from a modern poly viewpoint.

** "The Revolution in Parenthood: The Emerging Global Clash Between Adult Rights and Children's Needs," from the Institute for American Values. Here's another important article indicating that "What about the kids?" will be the Right's argument of choice against polyamory -- one that deserves to be addressed seriously and at face value.

** "Utah trio asks court to allow polygamy," The Daily Herald, Provo, Utah. Another polygamy-rights case is moving up through the courts.

** "My Husband's Three Wives," The Learning Channel. Traditional polygamy, of the awful variety, in Texas.

Here's the site: Polyamory in the News, polyinthemedia.blogspot.com/ . For earlier entries than the most recent 10, see the monthly archives.

I've done 88 of these reports in the last year, and I hope you have as much fun looking through them as I did putting them together. "Eat them up, yum!"

Cheers to all,

We will:
* focus on specific issues such as jealousy management, the negotiating of boundaries, etc.

We are committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment for communication, innovation and experimentation. There will be plenty of room for discussions and exchange of experiences, as well as
guided exercises and structured interactions.

This group is open to individuals and couples with allkinds of experiences with poly/& open relationships from any sexual orientation. You are welcome whether you are already in or contemplating an open/polyamorous relationship, or you are much more monogamous with a polyamorously inclined partner.

THE FACILITATORS:

Meriana de Jager earned her Masters in Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies and is currently working at New Perspectives Center for Counseling. She has been working with
individuals and couples for 5 years. Some of the psychotherapeutic modalities she has extensive training and practice in are
Psychodynamics, Cognitive Behavioral, Hakomi, RCS and Body-centered
psychotherapy. Meriana feels strongly about each persons right to
create for themselves the life they truly desire. She is passionate about helping people find, define and be empowered in what is true for them and is committed to helping them actualize it in their lives.

Ty Gesyuk has worked as a personal coach for many years and has interviewed thousands of couples on what makes a healthy relationship last. His approach in coaching couples is rooted in the oriental wisdom of nature. Apart from working as a personal coach he has
an extensive background in yoga, meditation, dance, massage, martial arts, nutrition and personal training. He draws from modern and ancient systems to teach, in simple terms, a language of health. His core belief is that health equals freedom. After observing people suffer with health concerns and in a prison-of-sorts from their pain, he vowed to do something about it. Since then he has founded three
centers of health, taught over a hundred thousand yoga students, and massaged over 20 thousand people.

Address: 298 Laidley St. @ Miguel
in the Glen Park neighborhood of San Francisco
If you are like me and living in Southern California, you search PMM and it feels like 90% of the California results are from Northern California and specifically San Francisco. Find people in Southern California should be easier. So I created http://tribes.tribe.net/socalpolypersonals

Post a link to your PMM page, post an ad for what type of relationship you are seeking, etc. When we get enough members, perhaps we can have an event somewhere so people can meet face to face!

Just my two cents.

One, I'm interested in finding friends in my area, which is Kitsap County, across Puget Sound from Seattle. (My profile on PMM tells what I'm looking for romantically)

Two, I finally started a website, www.polypositivity.net, to provide another resource for poly folk, and I'd like some feedback and suggestions as to what else you'd like to see on there!

I'm adding a lot more to it, just as fast I can, but I'm open to all ideas and will constantly be changing it to suit the needs of those who use the site.

So about a year and a half ago I discovered that I can get a lot more response on craigslist than just about anywhere else online. But my frustration is that I have to do a LOT more screening to find anyone who actually fits my requests. Am I being unrealistic or is it just the wrong arena? Or maybe I should resurrect my ad on PMM?

Here is the latest version of my ad on cl:

""Bisexual woman looking for bisexual, pagan or polyamorous man.

Are you really polyamorous or just playing the field? My idea of settling down is having a husband and a wife and a child and helping my wife raise her child if in fact she wants one too. My body will only bare one more child (mine are grown and I did not raise them) but I'd be happy to help co-parent other children. I want a very non-traditional family. But I am not interested in polyamory as an excuse to date whomever I choose when ever I feel like it. If I believe we are getting along through email and there might be a second date then I can be very generous. But don't expect sex on a first date if I don't feel there will be a second date.

I'm 40 years old now and I've done my share of fooling around and not really interested in an endless string of one night stands. If I am to have a happy healthy relationship and a child in the next five years, I need to make it clear to anyone else who responds exactly what I'm looking for. I am NOT looking for anything casual. If this is not what you are looking for then I suggest you move on. If your still interested and aren't going to waste my time, then we can meet.

Here is a little more about who I am: I am not a vegetarian, but I think if you can't Grok an animal then you don't deserve to eat it! I read a lot of Scifi and fantasy, when I have time to read at all. I also read a lot of spiritual and psychology books, a bad habit from my teens when mom was getting her degree in psych. I have a vast spiritual background and have goals and plans in the spiritual realm where most people can't even understand such ambitions. I also have a kinky side, but you don't get to see it till you have earned my trust.

Here are some basic facts. I'm 5'3", about 175 lbs. green/hazel eyes, and light brown hair. I'm a certfied massage therapist with 17 years of experience. I'm fairly muscular and walk alot, but chronic back problems keep me being as active as I'd like. My favorite way to work out, when it's hot enough is to go innertubing down a river. I like day hikes and moonlight walks. I enjoy a good meal in a fine restaurant when I can afford it. I like watching movies and listening to live Jazz. I also like the Blues and good old fashioned Rock and Roll.

Please send a pic of yourself when you respond. If you can grok this much then please contact me. ""

So anyone interested in critiqueing this, or just interested. ;-)

Bay Area Poly Fitness
This tribe is for anyone in the SF Bay area poly community who wishes to get together for various fitness related activities such as hiking, biking, climbing (indoor or outdoor), kayaking, etc. Anything that gets the blood pumping. Way too many poly meetups are centered around eating (muches, potlucks, lunches, etc) so let's do something to burn it off :-)

We'll be looking for folks to help lead their favorite activity all around the Bay area. Got a new idea? Throw it out there and have others in the poly community join you for the fun.
Accommodations for our new community members, our sister wives and brother husbands, vary from private bedrooms with shared bath and kitchen to small, private complete apartments on the property. Members work weekly in community garden and grounds.

Community activities include emotional support groups, workshops, parties and hosting. Applicants trained in healing arts, music, construction and gardening would help lots. For application call 808/244-4103 leave name, address, phone and fax.

Kira: I'm looking for a second husband, someone who's kind, loving, self-sufficient, economically stable and glad to contribute to our work at home and in the world. My ideal second husband would share our vision of community and ideally be good at some of the work we need, work with computers, web sites, office work, managing workshops & conferences. Or carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, gardening.

I have a lot of sexual energy and a huge heart. I'm open to more masculine love, someone who is sweet, affectionate but not too needy, sufficiently healed with childhood issues in order to come aboard fully as a team member.

I'm also open to sister-wives, who are supportive of the work we do here in the community and our global work with conferences and workshops. Ideally they'd be able to support our efforts, help us take our spiritual work to the next highest level to serve more of humanity. I'm bisexual and would like my sister-wives to be bisexual as well. Husbands needn't be bisexual but if they were, that would be a plus.

Sasha: I'm open to most anyone nonviolent who loves and supports Janet and is open to emotional processing, group meetings and group tantric love-ins. You must be committed to empathizing with others who are expressing their emotions, focusing on their needs, and finding what you can do accommodate their requests. I'd especially enjoy lovers who enjoy conversation, yoga, hiking, biking, swimming, gardening, writing, ancient anthropology, tantra, community, welcoming and supporting poly and tantra explorers who attend our workshops and conferences.
I would also hope that some of our lovers are open to public media appearances to discuss our poly community as an example of relationship choice for the world.
